My Lokoja
We are at this time hampered by the
flood situation in bringing you the full situation on ground. We wish to appreciate efforts of the online
community in bringing to the knowledge of the world situation pictures from the
different nooks and cranny of Kogi state.
The flood situation is serious,
candidly my advice is for us to vacate Lokoja now, this is no empty alarm, if
you remember our first story on the flood situation on 12th September
2012 when we broke the news of how the water was growing by the seconds. The
flood has gone beyond the safe barrier. The
Abuja – Lokoja is cut off , Ganaja – Ajaokuta
road is off and the Meme stream has now upgraded to the status of a sea, threatening
the Lokoja – Okene road . Lokoja city is gradually been locked up from all
outlet.
The Lokoja water works
is shutdown, a sachet of pure water is now #30 and to rise further. The fuel
situation is so pathetic with fuel going for #400 per litre and not available.
Lokoja is
locked down and gone under.
For assistance, I am
making consultations on how I can make
my foreign account available for donations from our brothers and sister in Diaspora.
I am moving ahead of Government to declear for relief for the victims of the
flood and also call on Government to do like wise immediately. Both state and the National Government can not handle this alone. Kogi needs your
assistance NOW.
It must also be noted
that the flood is not limited to Lokoja, all the towns and villages along the
Niger and Benue rivers in kogi state have
been submerged.
Cash, materials and medicine
is urgently needed.
