Youths in Kogi State have called on the PDP governorship candidate Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho to block any attempt by either the PDP or INEC from conducting a fresh party primaries in Kogi State.
The call was made in a press release after a crucial meeting in Lokoja.
The group who pride its as the youth network for economic empowerment and good governance said they were not comfortable with stories making the round of the purported plan to replace Alhaji Jibrin Isah with Alhaji Razak Kutepa.
Meanwhile the youths noted the inability to hold the governorship election in Kogi State was neither the fault of Echocho nor the party and neither was the last primaries faulty.
They threatened to approach the court for a stay of execution of the fresh primaries in the event that Alhaji Jibrin Isah does not make any move.
They called on all youths to remain resolute in their support for Echocho and all youths in the new political order.
Elected members into the National and State House of Assembly in Kogi State have been called upon to live up to expectations of the electorate.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Kogi, Nassarawa and Plateau States, Doctor Abdulkadri Oniyangi made the call in Lokoja at the presentation of certificate of returns to elected members in the State.
Doctor Oniyangi said the call became necessary in view of the enormous responsibility conferred on them by their elections stressing the need for them to be alive to their promises to the people.
He added that there is the need for elected members to carry the people along in the scheme of things as posterity will judge them at the end of their tenure.
Earlier, in his speech the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Mallam Abubakar Ahmadu said the certificate of returns is a proof of the legitimacy of their elections and urged them to cultivate the culture of tolerance for one another.
