KOGI FRESH NEWS
WATER
The Lokoja Greater Water Project has been described as one of the greatest achievements of the present administration in the State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Elder Emmanuel Bello made this remark while speaking with our reporter in his office in Lokoja.
Elder Bello said the project when inaugurated next month will alleviate the suffering of the people.
He commended Governor Ibrahim Idris for his genuine commitment to the delivery of democracy dividends to the people.
According to him, the contractor has installed necessary facilities on the site, saying standards were not compromised in the execution of the project.
He called on the people of the State to rally round the Governor to enable him succeed in the task ahead
PDP SUSPENDS PARTY MEMBERS
This week has been a scary one for many PDP card carrying members who were identified to have been involved in different acts which were not in line with the party policies.
The allegation of anti-party activities which was levelled across the board had no regard for who or what ever positions you occupied either in the party or government.
These action of the different local government party executive council actually displayed the authority and power of the PDP Exco over their members as it triggered lots of activities in the state capital, Lokoja with party men and women running helter-skelter to save their membership of the PDP and positions in government.
However, with the intervention of Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho, the PDP flag bearer for the governorship election 2012 and other notable members of the PDP. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Idris the executive governor of Kogi State impressed on the party Exco to put aside the suspension while proper investigation is to be carried out.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Echocho on the development, he said in as much as individuals had the choice of supporting whoever they wish, card carrying members especially those in position who are directly benefitting from the party should in no way display their displeasure against any party candidate who must have clearly won the primaries, he went further to thank all party members and kogites in general for their support to the PDP by remaining the main stream and promised if elected he will use his personal connection with Goodluck Jonathan to transform Kogi State, giving an indication of the Obudu Cattle ranch and the Business city of Dubai.
Also, we gather from the gripe vine that Jibrin Isah Echocho was one of the accounting consultant who have worked with the president in the past. Just like Smart Adeyemi who was a media consultant to Ebele Goodluck.
Again, Jonathan and his wife’s life has been entrusted in the hands of kogites who serves as their oddly. Great kogites, be good and leave on.
IBRO DROPS POLITICAL APPOINTEES
Over 76 political appointees were last week relieved of their appointments. The action of government which do not give reasons for the move is however been speculated to be in relation to their attitude during both the party primaries and the general elections.
The indication of their relief was so tactically done with the non-payment of their monthly take home. So, those who went to the banks and discovered they were not paid was an automatic notification that their services were no more required. It was a thing of shock to them as many had jubilated that they had extra months to stay with the pronouncement of the court extending the term of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris as Governor of Kogi State.
Meanwhile many of the appointees were highly favoured during their stay and we expect them to put their proceed into a meaningful venture that will further employ our teaming unemployed youths.
ARENA OF WAR
The present crop of the Kogi State House of Assembly members, this week finally signed into law the creation of an Arena of War.
The returning and outgoing members haven’t agreed on how to continue to support the outgoing members with contracts and other leverages cajoled them into signing a fresh bill 15 days to the end of their tenure, giving the returning House members domain over the newly elected members. This is exactly a direct copy attitude of the National Assembly where David Mark is planning to perpetrate himself as the Senate President for life.
Meanwhile the newly elected members of the Kogi State House of Assembly are scheduled to meet in an undisclosed area to plan an onslaught to dislodge that arrangement.
We keep our fingers crossed as we expect their inauguration and the start of battle in its Arena of War.
It is our wish that Kogites will raise against the attitude of the members of the House as this portrays their selfishness with no regard to the feelings of Kogites whom there are supposed to defend.
BACK BREAKING STRIKE
We gather that Kogi State Civil Servants have secretly planned the final strike tagged ‘Revolution’, to bring down the government of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris’, if the agreement with state government is not honoured at the end of May. Labour and government had earlier agreed that while they wait for the N18,000.00 minimum wage approved by Goodluck Jonathan, the state government is to pay a relativity salary of N16,096.00 to the lowest staff. But at the moment the state workers are in confused because of the story coming out of the government house that Ibro is about to renegade from the earlier agreement. The worst case scenario is a situation where no authentic information is coming from government thereby leaving everything to rumour.
The new elected labour leaders are also not helping matters as they are said not to have any story for their followers.
Meanwhile, the present crop of labour leaders also stand accused of being part of the last group who were said to have received N3 million to abruptly bring to an end the last strike without concrete or definite agreement.
The current strike, we gathered, is completely out of the hands of the labour leaders, but by highly respected young civil servants who have served so many years and are top ranking in the civil service. They are said have staked their heads for the success of the proposed peaceful revolution.
