FLOOD
ALERT – Phase one the
next disaster.
Residence of
Lokongoma phase one estate are hereby warned of an impending flooding of the
area as the meme river gathers momentum. You are advised to relocate immediately.
In our
earlier report it will be recalled we mentioned how the meme river had assume
the status of a sea. At the time of this report many houses have been submerged
with the river still moving into the higher grounds of the estate.
Many
residence are already moving out but majority of them seem to be waiting for
the final onslaught of the flood.
While on our
observation of the flood it was noticed
how some people were using the flood water for domestic purposes. Our reporter
came across a health official Ms Anne Bosede Ajaguna who was at bank of the river to sensitize
people against the usage of the water for any domestic use , she warned that the flood contained dangerous
pollutants which is harmful to humans. Such debris moving along with the flood
include remains of humans and animals, feaces from suck away, and refuse dumps which were lifted unto the surface as a result

Meanwhile
the Governor Capt Idris Wada has called on those leaving along the low land
areas to move to higher grounds.
NOTICE
TO ALL FARMERs AFFECTED BY THE FLOOD
This is to
inform all farmers in Lokoja and environs who were affected by th current flood
disaster to come and register their names and the nature of their loses with
the flod victim desk in the ministry of Agriculture headquarters, here in Lokoja
in the office of the Director of Fisheries.
Other farmers
in various LGA should register with the
Area Agriculture officer in their respective Local Government Area.
